The story of Allie & Fergus, was chosen for the anthology sorry, not sorry – an unapologetic short story collection celebrating life in Canada. Praised for its character development, Allie & Fergus focuses on a blended family who are navigating the teenage years of four children as best as they can. Told from the perspective of the 15-year-old adopted daughter, she is able to assess the personality traits of those that she lives with, while identifying personal preferences and the perceived biases of a wider community. Familial acknowledgements are reflected in larger issues as it relates to parenting styles, culture of origin, race and gender identity in this well-executed short story.
